I am the CEO and Creative Visionary behind A Mother of Colour, a community-rooted brand dedicated to uplifting mothers through culture, creativity, and storytelling. My passion for this work comes from a childhood shaped by adversity—where art became my refuge through my parents’ divorce and the instability that followed. Creativity wasn’t just an outlet; it was survival, healing, and the beginning of my purpose.
That early journey inspired my academic path, leading me to earn an MFA in Media Design and certifications as a Therapeutic Art Coach through the Life Coach Training Institute and Transformation Academy. Art became my language, my way of understanding the world, and ultimately the foundation of my life’s work.
Today, I serve as a Fiber Artist, Cultural Storyteller, and Multimedia Folklorist, weaving ancestral traditions with contemporary design. Through textile arts, narrative work, and digital media, I celebrate the beauty of Afrocentric and global cultures—helping individuals and communities reclaim identity, honor heritage, and express themselves with pride and authenticity.
My work also extends into storytelling on a national scale. As the founder of National Write Your Story Day, featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, and TIME Magazine, I advocate for storytelling as a tool for healing, connection, and generational empowerment.
With over a decade of experience in creative direction, marketing, and website management, I am committed to amplifying voices that are often overlooked. Through A Mother of Colour, I’ve built a vibrant space where mothers—especially mothers of color—feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Our guiding belief is simple: we rise by lifting others.
I am especially inspired by ethnic and ancestral prints, and much of my fiber art pays homage to lineage, memory, and the stories women carry. Every piece I create—from handmade accessories to cultural pattern designs—is infused with meaning, honoring the women who came before us and the communities we nurture today.
Beyond my work, I am a daughter, wife and mother, and my son Genesis remains the heartbeat of my purpose. Everything I create, teach, and share is rooted in love for family, culture, and community.
Whether you are navigating motherhood, seeking cultural inspiration, or reconnecting with your own story, I’m honored to walk with you. Together, we are building a world where every mother—and every story—is seen, empowered, and celebrated!
As Seen On...
